    About my fee

Counselling services are not currently eligible for Medicare rebates. While there is ongoing advocacy to expand rebate access, I aim to keep my fees accessible to help reduce barriers to support.

Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or fortnightly depending on individual needs. We will review progress together and adjust the pace of treatment as appropriate.

  • No referral is required. You’re welcome to book directly.

  • No, you do not need a formal OCD diagnosis to begin therapy. Obsessive–compulsive patterns don’t need to meet diagnostic criteria to be worth addressing. What matters is whether these experiences are interfering with your life or taking up more space than you’d like.

  • Both Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (I-CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) are evidence-based treatments for OCD.

ERP targets the behavioural cycle by using exposure to feared situations while preventing compulsive responses, supporting new learning about threat and uncertainty.

I-CBT targets the cognitive mechanism that precedes this cycle by identifying and correcting the reasoning process that creates obsessional doubt.

My practice is primarily focused on delivering I-CBT.

I-CBT may be particularly helpful for individuals who have previously engaged in ERP but found it was not the right fit, experienced only partial improvement, or feel hesitant about engaging in exposure-focused work.

If you are specifically seeking ERP, I’m happy to support you with a referral.

  • Both psychologists and counsellors work in mental health and support people through a range of challenges. The main differences lie in training pathways, regulatory frameworks, and scope of practice.

Psychologists are registered under national legislation, can provide formal mental health diagnoses, and may offer Medicare-rebated sessions. They are trained in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and a range of therapeutic approaches.

Counsellors are trained mental health practitioners who provide therapy, conduct clinical assessments, and work within therapeutic approaches aligned with their training and areas of specialisation. Counsellors do not provide formal diagnoses but focus on therapeutic intervention, formulation, and change.

  • OCD often occurs alongside other difficulties such as anxiety or low mood. When these experiences are present, care is taken to consider timing and focus so that support is effective and responsive to your overall wellbeing. If specialised support is needed beyond my scope of practice, this will be discussed, and appropriate referrals will be offered.
